India Export Facts

  • India faces a critical shortage of reliable, safe water for personal consumption and for industrial use.  In recent years rapid industrialization and a growing population have placed increasing demands on the country’s limited water resources.
  • Most of India’s water resources are allocated to the agricultural sector, leaving little or no resources for other uses.  To address this issue, the government of Indiaand the private sector have made commitments to invest in water and wastewater treatment technologies.
  • India will invest over US$108 billion annually on water and wastewater services by 2025 (source: OECD – Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development).

The WEDC is Wisconsin’s lead economic development agency.
