Fairchild receives Community Development Block Grant

MADISON – The Village of Fairchild will receive a $506,000 Community Development Block Grant for Public Facilities from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to help finance the community’s water main and sanitary sewer improvements.

The Village’s project will include the replacement and extension of both the sanitary sewer system and water mains, including water mains that are too small, shallow and deteriorated. These improvements will help address winter freezing of mains and services and sewer system backups.

The WEDC said assistance in this project is an important investment in the infrastructure, economic development and safety of the community and its residents.

The Community Development Block Grant program is a versatile financing tool for general-purpose local units of government in need of funds to undertake needed infrastructure and public building projects. The program is designed to enhance the vitality of a community by undertaking public investment that contributes to its overall community and economic development.

The WEDC is Wisconsin’s lead economic development agency.
