Most businesses need some form of permit or license before they can open their doors. Be sure and obtain the necessary documents at the proper stage in your business development.
The State of Wisconsin does not issue “general business licenses” or a “small business licenses.” However, the state does regulate many types of occupations and businesses that frequently have to meet specific regulations, as well as legal, educational and examination requirements. The requirements are determined by what is being done in a business. There is no “home-based business license”, although local regulations issued by your municipality usually apply to businesses conducted in residential areas.
