WEDC announces support of ‘Read to Lead’

MADISON – The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation today announced the support of the “Read to Lead” student literacy program by promoting books about Wisconsin businesses and entrepreneurs.

“Read to Lead” aims to ensure young people in Wisconsin learn to read before they need to read to learn. The “Read to Lead” Task Force Recommendations report emphasizes, “There is no skill more important to future success than reading.”

The WEDC has identified books with the assistance of the Wisconsin Historical Society about Wisconsin entrepreneurs that may help inspire tomorrow’s avid reader and the next Wisconsin entrepreneur. Such publications include:

  • Casper Jaggi – Master Swiss Cheese Maker, by Jerry Apps
  • Frank Lloyd Wright and his New American Architecture, by Bob Kann
  • Harley and the Davidsons, by Pete Barnes
  • Lizzie Kander and her Cookbook, by Bob Kann
  • Ole Evinrude and his Outboard Motor, by Bob Jacobson
  • Tents, Tigers and the Ringling Brothers, by Jerry Apps
