Wisconsin Gains National Media Attention

Hall_Reed-240x300

Throughout the past couple of years, Wisconsin has been thrust into the national spotlight for a variety of reasons. Recently, we have received substantial attention from national business, consumer and technology media outlets focusing on the strength of our state, its influential leaders, and the positive business initiatives happening here.

For example, the most recent issue of Leaders Magazine features a group of influential and prominent executives in the state. The article showcases individual perspectives from government officials and Wisconsin’s many strong industries—from Robert Reilly of GE Healthcare to Dean Amhaus of The Water Council to Diane Hendricks of ABC Supply.

A sign of the widespread attention on the state’s high-tech business sector is the launch of Xconomy’s Wisconsin bureau. This national news and events company, which focuses on the business of technology with a focus on life sciences, information technology, advanced manufacturing, water and energy, is staffed by leading journalists and supported by “the Xconomists,” who include more than 300 of the country’s leading innovators. Wisconsin becomes the ninth Xconomy site in the nation – joining Boston, Boulder/Denver, Detroit, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Texas.

You also may have seen the Forbes Magazine article honoring Madison Gas & Electric for its Innovation Center located within UW-Madison’s Research Park. The publication named the Center one of the “12 Business Incubators Changing the World” and listed it as a top breeding ground for compelling, high-tech startups, based on trends in funding for private companies.

Continuing our recognition as a high-tech state, Wisconsin will be featured in the June 2014 Technology issue of Bloomberg Businessweek. Through stories and interviews focusing on the state’s advanced manufacturing, water technology, health care advancements, energy innovation, and more, Wisconsin will gain the recognition it deserves for being an innovative technology leader. This feature is a major endorsement of the successful businesses that call Wisconsin home and is a direct result of the successful collaboration taking place here.
