State Budget Advances Wisconsin’s Competitiveness

Included in Governor Scott Walker’s recently proposed state budget are several initiatives designed to nurture business success and ultimately create new jobs in Wisconsin. Click here for some of the highlights of the governor’s budget initiatives of particular interest to businesses.

Now that the budget has been referred to the Joint Finance Committee, what does the approval process entail? Here is a rough schedule of events that will unfold in the coming months as a lead-up to final budget approval:

  • March – Legislature holds public hearings throughout the state
  • April and May – Joint Finance votes through a series of changes
  • June – Full legislature votes for approval

Through this budget cycle and beyond, WEDC will work with the governor and state and local partners to promote bold policies that help businesses succeed in Wisconsin.
