WEDC held a board meeting to review budget items and American Rescue Plan Act allocation. WEDC CEO and Secretary Missy Hughes highlighted that they are considering the possibility of Evers’ budget recommendations but are planning around a continuance of the last budget cycle.

In regards to ARPA, Gov. Evers plans to allocate $2.5 billion of the $3.2 billion to economic recovery. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) and WEDC board member asked if WEDC will plan and vote on how to spend ARPA funds once allocated. Hughes responded that they are waiting on the U.S. Department of Treasury to provide guidance, but once they are given guidance, WEDC will proceed with planning and approval of ARPA allocation expenditures.
