Gold Standard Baking set to build new $42 million facility in Pleasant Prairie

Chicago-based Gold Standard Baking, a high-volume bakery specializing in a variety of sweet baked goods like croissants and Danishes, recently opened a new 200,000-square-foot facility in the LakeView Corporate Park in Pleasant Prairie.

The company is expected to invest $42 million in the plant and to hire 100 employees, with the facility operating three shifts per day to enable the company to meet growing demand for its products. The Pleasant Prairie location will be the company’s second, joining its Chicago plant.

“Over the past 30 years, Gold Standard Baking has grown from a neighborhood bakery in Chicago to a company that now employs 400-plus people and delivers quality baked goods to customers nationwide,” said Mark R. Hogan, secretary and CEO of WEDC. “Gold Standard Baking is a welcome addition to Wisconsin’s vibrant food and beverage processing industry, which has nearly 1,400 companies that employ 93,000 people statewide.”

To help support the company’s growth, WEDC awarded Gold Standard Baking up to $575,000 in tax credits, with the actual amount contingent on the fulfillment of job creation and capital investment requirements.
