Trade Opportunities Abound in Brazil

Brazil is the largest economy in Latin America and Wisconsin’s top trading partner in South America. The country has an abundance of natural resources, including diamonds, gold, fertile agricultural land and oil and gas deposits, as well as an enormous and creative workforce. Wisconsin exports to the country exceeded $517 million in 2014, representing an increase of more than 8 percent over the prior year. While the overall economic outlook in 2016 for Brazil is cautious, the export opportunities for Wisconsin companies remain bright and exist for companies in almost every sector, but especially in industrial and electrical machinery, agricultural equipment, medical and scientific instruments, vehicles and construction equipment.

SUCCESS STORY

InSinkErator

Founded in Racine, Wisconsin in 1938, InSinkErator revolutionized kitchen chores by creating a whole new product category: in-sink food waste disposals. The company grew steadily with domestic sales throughout the post-war years, and then about 10 years ago, InSinkErator management recognized a market opportunity for their products in the rapidly industrializing country of Brazil.
