A new look for a downtown Beaver Dam business was unveiled Monday. With assistance from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and Retailworks Inc., a Milwaukee based retail branding company, Art on the Town updated its front façade and revitalized its indoor space.
The project was part of the WEDC’s eighth annual Main Street Makeover contest. Main Street Makeover is part of the organization’s broader Wisconsin Main Street program, which is dedicated to revitalizing downtowns and commercial districts in communities across the state.
Missy Hughes is secretary and CEO of the WEDC, she says “small businesses like Art on the Town are just so incredibly important throughout Wisconsin…its one of the reasons that WEDC supports the Main Street program and the Connect Communities program…because that’s where we want to live.
“We want to live in our communities…in downtown, we want to have a chance to see our neighbors at the restaurants and the cafés and do classes together and so it’s just really incredibly important and it’s a key piece of economic development and why we are so dedicated to it.”
