Up until 2011, the Wisconsin Department of Commerce fulfilled the role now served by WEDC. During that time, the success of businesses, municipalities, organizations, and schools across the state was propelled by Department of Commerce awards. Provided through more than 50 separate programs, the funds helped to train employees, expand operations, create jobs, conduct research, guide export strategies, secure professional services, and more.
