South Milwaukee has experienced a massive increase in new business growth over the last five years.
In what South Milwaukee Economic Development Director Patrick Brever calls “data-driven decision making” by mayors and the council, the city saw a 525% increase in approved new business occupancies from 2017 to 2022, according to a July 13 South Milwaukee news release.
Additionally, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation’s Main Street Bounceback Grant program helped with $10,000 of “one-time assistance to new and existing businesses opening a new location or expanding operations in a vacant commercial space,” according to the official website.
