Providing higher-quality oils
CONNOILS LLC is a leading global manufacturer and distributor of raw material ingredients. Based in Waukesha, the company offers an extensive line of stabilized conventional and organic oils and custom-made spray-dried and oil powders. Its product line also includes specialty items such as protein powders, lecithins and hydrolyzed collagens. In addition to custom-made private label manufacturing, CONNOILS offers turnkey solutions for formulation needs. Focusing on green technology including solvent- and chemical-free processing, CONNOILS works with conventional and organic oils that are unique forms of omega 3, 6, 7 and 9, minimizing exposure to heat and oxygen, and thus improving the oils’ stability and shelf life. Its extraction process uses supercritical carbon dioxide as a solvent, which allows processing at a low temperature and without contamination. In 2017, due to its achievements in exporting and community engagement, CONNOILS received the Governor’s Export Achievement Award, a program administered by WEDC.
International expansion fuels growth
CONNOILS launched its international division in early 2013. Over the next four years, its international sales increased dramatically, from numbers in the thousands in 2013 to nearly $2 million in 2016. Until 2013, the company’s international sales were primarily from Canada. Four years later, CONNOILS was selling into 13 countries on five continents. To bring about this expansion, CONNOILS prioritized exhibiting at international trade shows and visiting target markets in person, and attended a global trade venture to Mexico with WEDC to meet with potential business partners in Mexico City and Guadalajara. “There is no replacement for the personal touch,” said Elizabeth Cambar-Roney, the company’s international sales director. “People prefer meeting with and talking to a human being instead of sending an email or having a phone conversation. It’s an old tradition that continues to be a best business practice, both internationally and domestically.”
