A global leader in the chemical manufacturing industry
RBP Chemical Technology is known for its innovative products and commitment to international expansion
Founded in 1954, Milwaukee-based RBP Chemical Technology is a leading global supplier of proprietary chemicals and deliver devices for the medical implant, printing, toll blending, and electronics manufacturing industries. With a workforce of 43 full-time employees, the company has strategically involved eight of them in various aspects of its international business. This focused approach has led to a significant increase in export sales, which grew from 16% to 28% of the company’s total sales in just two years and experienced 34% year-over-year growth in 2023 alone. In all, the company has expanded its global presence to more than 50 countries.
An export strategy informed by education
RBP Chemical Technology leveraged the ExporTech™ Program, offered by the Wisconsin Center for Manufacturing and Productivity with support from WEDC, to enhance its export sales and broaden its global influence. The program played a key role in helping the company develop its export strategy, which contributed to its expanding international presence.
The company also invested in deepening its employees’ knowledge and expertise through the International Air Transport Association and Maritime Dangerous Goods training, as well as language skills. Translating its safety data sheets into the languages of the target markets has played a key role in accessing new markets. Relationship building and contracts for distribution and cross-selling have led to fruitful partnerships in overseas markets. The company shares its knowledge by participating in the Madison International Trade Association, among other community-focused initiatives.
