Greater Milwaukee Urban League honors WEDC
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) was honored with two awards from the Greater Milwaukee Urban League (GMUL) Wednesday during the League’s annual Equal Opportunity Day Salute to Excellence. The League presented WEDC Secretary and CEO Missy Hughes with the Excellence in Community and Economic Development Award for WEDC’s work to address the needs of diverse businesses and chambers of commerce and for the organization’s efforts to advance worker retention and recruitment following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Five groups win grant funding to boost entrepreneurship
Five organizations with fresh ideas on how to strengthen entrepreneurship and support new business ventures have won a total of $170,850 in a new grant program administered by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC). The Entrepreneurship Partner Grants, awarded on a competitive basis, aim to promote entrepreneurial growth across the state and impact underserved communities by funding new programs.
